Am I observant?

Do you have any idea how much you are missing? If you consider how your sense organs work and how your attention gets directed and (and distracted!), you will begin to see how much you probably miss. Ego quiz want to help you assess your Observer Habits by having you spend a few minutes of your valuable attention on these questions:

  1. Can you say definitely where each of the following may be found right now: check book, hammer, automobile title? (Must get all three.) _________
  2. What is the mileage on your family car? (Within 1,000 miles.) _________
  3. How man vertical columns of print are there on the front page of your local newspaper? ______
  4. What time is it right now? (Within seven minutes.) _________
  5. Name the streets two blocks away from your home apartment, in all four directions. _______
  6. Which are the even-numbered pages of a book, right or left? _______
  7. Where is the fire hydrant nearest your dwelling? ________
  8. On what days does the garbage man come in neighborhood? ________
  9. Choose any significant set of stairs at your house - how many steps are there in the entire flight? (1 step error is okay.) _______
  10. On your clock, or wristwatch, how many Numbers actually appear?

After you have taken the quiz you will have to determine the correct answers, perhaps with some help. When you find that a particular item does not apply (if the family does not have an auto) you might try to think of a similar-type item to substitute. For example, how many miles do you travel each week just by going to work (or school)? (10% are allowed.)

Determine the number of errors you made and judge your-self on there norms:
Exceptionally observant: 0 or 1 error
Very observant: 2 or 3 errors
Normally Observant : 4 errors
Below average : 5 or 6 errors
You are missing to much: 7 or more errors.
