Do I Have A Sense Of Humor?
Do you get lot of fun out of life in spite of its hardships? Are you a lot of laughs of the other people? Or is your life more of a trig-comedy? Let's take a peek into you Senses Of Humor by answering true or false to these:
- ___I am quite capable of playing a clown successfully
- ___I'm afraid I get laughed at often when I intend no joke.
- ___The use of ethnic humor on TV is always inappropriate.
- ___I laugh at the majority of the jokes my friends tell (sick puns excluded.)
- ___I often appreciate the humor even when the jokes are on me!
- ___Slap-stick comedy was never funny to me quite frankly.
- ___I never laugh at the risque joke.
- ___Some people often see humor in everyday happenings, but not to me.
- ___I have to be in the mood or have an alcoholic lift of to lighthearted.
- ___My sense of humor has truly saved me from some bad times.
Some people "play the clown" because they don't feel capable of relating effectively any other way (fell inferior). But persons with a good sense of humor should be able to play the clown successfully sometimes (#1-True), and be ale to laugh at themselves (#5-True), but not feel like they are the butt of jokes (@2-False).
One should be truly amused by more than 50% of the jokes told by friends (with the exclusions mentioned) (#4-True), unless you have the bad luck to be stuck with some pretty unfunny friends right now. Ethnic humor, like the most other humor, can be offensive, but is often poignantly funny (#3-false).
Persons who can never laugh at the risque, (mind you we didn't say "dirty") joke are probably up-tight about sex and hence somewhat inflexible (#7-false). Persons who have to get in the mood or need alcohol to laugh are probably up-tight too (#9-false).
Some persons think slap-stick is too low a comedy, but most persons with a flexible sense of humor will find some of of it quite amusing (#6-false). Persons with good, supportive sense of humor will find humor in quite simple everyday experiences (#8-false) and will find that their mental equilibrium was often saved by it (#10-true.)
